Chantal Goya. WTF?

Fatherhood can be excruciating sometimes especially when you have to watch Chantal Goya on a Sunday morning in order to entertain your 2 year old. Thank god I have a boy otherwise I would be playing with Barbies on Sunday mornings as well.
Anyway, not that Goya brings nice old 30 year old memories, but what strikes me the most is that the re-imagining of the show she is doing lately is quite shocking to say the least. It was a horrifying experience this morning!!!

She is in her 70s, a bit scary looking in a white short dress and pink shoes (straight out of Horrorfest) and jumping on stage like a wounded cat. It was like watching 'Chicago' (the musical) performed by the Hunchback of Notre Dame as the lead.

Furthermore, one of the best songs that still resonate in my subconscious since I was a child is ' Becassine'. It is a kind of a magical beat that brings joy to anyone that hears it (in a way). Well, she changed the rhythm into a techno/tektronic type of melody, she changed the choreography into a LIDO type of dancing performed by semi-nude dancers, and most atrociously she changed the lyrics into English and they litterally go like that (I am not exagerating):
"Bekkassayne, is my Kozzayne. Bekkaassayne, is my Voizzayne!!"

Kids get traumatized watching stuff like that. What kind of memories do you give a child to remember 30 years down the road. My kid would hate me if he remembers that I made him watch such a freak show from a bewilderned nightmare.

Anyway, I say to this Wicked Witch of the West to simply STOP performing for our kids. Retirement is the best gift she can give now to any Francophone kid out there.

Don't know in which country you watched that but sure not in France. She is almost banned from french TV after a show in 1985 called "Le jeu de la vérité" where she went completely mad and was singing "ab cd etc" and le lapin... after a lady asked for her age. She answered, fairies have no age and went mad!
Just for info, she was born in 1942...

Well it was a taped onstage show she performed over here in Lebanon last year.
I saw "Le jeu de la vérité" and I knew she was crazy but I never knew there was a BAN on her on French TV. I thought censorship is not something allowed in France.

It was a horrifying experience for sure. I used to be a big fan and her songs always brought a smile to my face. But seeing her jumping around the stage bringing terror to our little viewers made me truly sad...!! An artist of such stature should age with dignity and not belimish the memories and respect so many fans hold of her...
