"Crème de la Crap"

2009 seems to be heating up with all types of elections happening around. Obama in the US, Iraq, Israel and of course in our beloved Lebanon. Elections in a Middle Eastern country are not your typical elections and so are (not) the contenders.

No matter how hard I try to focus on an ideology or global heading, none of the political parties seems to catch my interest. Elections are coming in June and I sure we will be posting a lot about that topic. Nevertheless, for the time being, I still did not decide which of the TWO sides will win my vote. So unless a 3rd side pops up and joins the 'corruption wagon' I will NOT be voting on June 7.

You should elect the elite that you think represent you

Dear Anonymous,

I have no idea how you found our blog but you are always welcomed to comment.
As for the 'elite' that you are talking about, it would be beneficial to mention elitism in what specifically?
All the candidates are elite in corruption for example.

On a more serious note. You really think that there are elite candidates in a country like ours? Pfffft!

Elite or Not, we are stuck with one of two options...

In my opinion, even if both of them are not convincing, but one is extremely unacceptable, voting for the opponent becomes inevitable...

the lesser of two evils.. no?

I don't believe in voting just for voting...there no "lesser evil".....either i'm convinced by on side or another and i vote for them , either i don't vote....

the 3rd option in my opinion is the "crapest" of them all , at least the other two sides are MEN enough to openly declare their political alliances

Ususally you vote for the "lesser of two evils" but when the level of incompetence/corruption/hypocrisy/etc... becomes so ABSURD your tiny vote won't make any difference.

it's like comparing a 1 billion dollar debt to a 1 trillion dollar debt. The result is the same, you're still going to shoot yourself in the head at the end of the day.

No doubt that voting won't fix the country. We are still doomed no matter who wins (get an alternative nationality before it is too late)

Since then I got 2 close friends who are candidates (each from the opposing camp). So I will be voting for them.

I confess though that the 'lesser evil approach' is very interesting.

I have an idea; if the concept of the "lesser evil" does not appeal to your own sense of "propriety" (whatever that is), I would say vote for those you think won't be forcing your mother, sister, daughter, or wife to be donning a hijab and 'iqab at some point in the foreseeable future. I think it beats opting for an alternate "nationality." You still live in Lebanon, don't you? If so, it is your civic duty to vote. Anything less is immature and plain stupid.

Indeed, I will surely be voting. Everyone I know is voting this weekend. For me it will be a lesser evil approach, for others it will be by conviction. Doesn't matter really, as long as we vote.

Have the guts to post as a 'non-anonymous' buddy. We're all friends here.

Djeeeeez kazamaza! Talk about making assumptions. Not all of us "friends" have google accounts, so no need for you to jump into conclusions, and puhleeeze, don't "buddy" me. I was blog surfing and stumbled upon your blog. I found the title intriguing, so I read on, and decided to comment; anonymously because, again, I didn't have a google account. Sorry if you got offended. And sorry if I intruded on your party of "friends". If this is a private blog, I suggest you restrict it to your blog authors or to readers of your own choosing. Otherwise, sorry to say, this is public space, and you're going to have to put up with the occasional non-"friend" reader every now and then.
